Atheists Are Hypocrites

This is taken right from the website of American Atheists, which was founded by Madalyn Murray O'Hair, and one of the most visible godless organizations in the world. They stand out as a mouthpiece for the typical garden-variety professing atheist here and abroad.

Atheists Are...

POSITIVE!
We are for solutions to human problems here and now, not in some never-never land after death. The concept of a place where all human needs are fulfilled and there is no hunger, poverty, or disease is an attainable goal here and now through human effort and interaction.

If atheists are "positive" by nature, then what is the necessity of the condescending comment about a "never-never land after death"?

And where are the atheist-run Rescue Missions, soup kitchens, Medical ships, after-school programs, Third World assistance organizations, and alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs? There are a number of secular programs (mostly run by tax dollars) and private programs, but where is the privately funded atheist equivalent of the Salvation Army, the world's 2nd largest welfare organization, 2nd only to the United Nations?

Atheists love to pull out the example of Bill Gates and his now full-time dedication to philanthropy, but that appears to be the exception more than the rule.

Atheists are by their own definition Utopians, but statistically, they don't show much effort in helping all of us get there.

ECLECTIC! We draw information from a variety of sources around us, selecting the best to be applied to the solution of human problems. We do not limit ourselves, as does the theist, to a set spectrum of allowable information with dogmatic systems based on subject faith.

Are not all systems for the solution of human problems faith-based until we act upon them? And what if these "other sources" don't work? Atheists, by definition, wouldn't consider a faith-based or religious solution to anything, even if it turns out to best way of fixing a problem. They are no more open-minded than their religious counterparts.

INNER-DIRECTED! This is in distinction to being outer-directed as the theist is. We rely on ourselves for the solutions to our problems. We realize that we have but three areas from which we can draw guidelines to aid us: natural history, human history, and communication with our fellow human beings. We cannot rely on supernatural intervention into our problem-solving processes.

What a silly comment. The decision to believe in God and follow God's will is in fact an INNER decision. God is not a puppetmaster or a ventriloquist. This declaration by atheists denies that believers have the same free will as non-believers.

And what are believers commanded to do once they learn what to do? ACT upon it, the same way Jesus did when He and his followers helped the poor and ailing.

INDEPENDENT!
We have no system of dependence on rigid dogmas to govern the events of our daily lives. The theist relies on a set of specific rules of conduct on a daily basis. Such a person is dependent upon those rules to function normally. An Atheist can function normally in society without reference to any arbitrary set of rules for his conduct.

This comment spreads the myth that atheists are morally superior to religious believers. I'd like to see the atheist community pull out a set of statistics that PROVES, not IMPLIES, that real professing atheists are less likely to lie, cheat, or steal than real, hard-core Christians.

However, this line of reasoning by American Atheists explains quite nicely how Joseph Stalin, after dropping out of seminary school and declaring himself an atheist, could justify the enslavement and needless deaths of 25 million Russians in the building of a Communist regime. After all, his conscience was his guide, wasn't it?

HAPPY! Atheists are content with their life-style. They are *not* unhappy that they have not chosen a closed theistic system inside of which they must operate. Atheists are comfortable and content with a life-style free from theism.

When was the last time you heard a "happy" atheist on a radio call-in program? When was the last time you read anything "happy" from an atheist on a blog? Just check out the American Atheists website. It is loaded with articles that bash religion and attempts to ridicule religious believers at every turn. Is this what you expect to see and hear from "happy", "positive" people?

On top of that, have you ever read any accounts of the life and personality of American Atheists' founder, Ms. Madalyn Murray O'Hair? Her own son's testimony revealed Ms. O'Hair to be one of the meanest, most foul-mouthed, and derogatory human beings you'd ever run across. Although American Atheists have tried to sugar-coat the memory of Ms. O'Hair, you'll discover that the emerging Positive Atheism Movement was attempting to distance themselves from her because she was becoming a public embarrassment. Even worse, Ms. O'Hair was funneling money from American Atheists to fund her own lavish lifestyle while the organization's employees went unpaid. So much for atheist moral superiority! I guess Ms. O’Hair’s happiness exceeded the needs of her employees.

CONCERNED WITH PRESERVATION OF FREEDOM! We know that one is born within a circle of freedom. The size of that circle is directly proportional to the number of freedoms one enjoys. It is the duty of each of us to see to it that during our lifetime that circle of freedom is never decreased, that it either remains the same size or is enlarged. We know that if we allow it to decrease that the following generation will have a smaller circle with which to start. Each generation must preserve the freedoms gained by the previous generation and enlarge on them if possible. Each freedom that is preserved is a stepping stone toward the achievement and preservation of the ultimate freedom: freedom of the mind. In keeping with this concern, Atheists have a dual attitude toward religion. From a logical perspective, religion is untenable and even harmful to the human thought process; it is something to be held in contempt of logic and reason. From a legal perspective, however, profession of religion is the civil right of any individual. If a man wishes to believe he is a tree, for example, that is his prerogative as long as he does not interfere with anyone else. When there is interference on the part of the religious community, the Atheist can and does object.

Hmmm… I guess that means criminals enjoy a larger “circle of freedom” than the rest of us law-abiding folks.

I’d also like to know in what way the atheists are working to achieve “freedom of the mind” when that freedom already exists. This aspiration by American Atheists flies in the face of the sad fact that atheistically-based totalitarian governments are guilty of doing whatever they can to limit and control what people think just as much as any hard-core theocracy. History has proven that time and time again.

I’d like to see some proofs of to how religion is “harmful” to the human thought process, and in contempt of logic and reason, when some of the greatest minds that ever existed believed in God. Guess what? Those are just more empty words from the morally superior atheist crowd.

And where does the atheist support a religious believer’s rights under the Constitution? In working vigorously to make sure there’s no mention of God or Christianity in public schools, American Atheists, and their friends in the ACLU, are insuring that all kids in public schools receive a covert indoctrination in atheism. This especially true in the Life Sciences, where godless naturalism is king. The public arena, despite claims to contrary, is not neutral where it comes to religion. It is pro-atheist.

The notion that American Atheists has a “dual attitude” towards religion is just another bald-faced lie. American Atheists has a single attitude towards religion and their website proves it. Their attitude is that religion is useless, destructive, and should disappear forever. It’s just too bad that they’re not intellectually honest enough to admit this in their “creed”.

Trying to excuse the commentary by this organization by disassociating American Atheists from so-called “Positive Atheists” won’t hold water here. American Atheists represents mainline atheism. I don’t see a whole lot of atheists denouncing these people as “fringe dwellers” or “kooks”. If atheists are going to point to extreme examples of Christian hypocrisy like Jimmy Swaggart, Jim Bakker, or David Koresh as being representative of mainline Christians, I’m well within my intellectual rights to hold out Madalyn Murray O’Hair and American Atheists as poster children of the modern atheist movement.

Here’s an interesting quote by Dr. Carl Sagan, who is admired by atheists everywhere:

http://oswalddefenselawyer.blogspot.com/2005/10/evolution-made-me-do-it_08.html

"An atheist is someone who is certain that God does not exist, someone who has compelling evidence against the existence of God. I know of no such compelling evidence. Because God can be relegated to remote times and places and to ultimate causes, we would have to know a great deal more about the universe than we do now to be sure that no such God exists..." (As quoted in the first webpage link to which I refer, above; also found in "Broca's Brain").

And here’s an interesting analysis of the meaning of “atheism”, taken from:

http://www.truthtree.com/Religion/posts/12580.html

”For my own part, I esteem professed agnostics much more highly than I do professed atheists. In reality, though, I've discovered that professed atheists are, in truth, nothing more nor less than agnostics. Ask any atheist to prove their case for atheism, and they will, invariably, say, with their usual irascible vehemence, "There is no proof; not one shred or sliver or scintilla of proof, that any 'God' or group of 'gods' exists!" Well, of course, this is, plainly and simply, an agnostic statement. At the core, any professed atheist is, therefore, really an agnostic.
In my opinion, any man or woman is at perfect liberty to say, agnostically, that there is no legitimate proof of there being a God (or group of gods). Likewise, any man or woman is at perfect liberty to say, theistically, that there is plenty of legitimate proof of there being a God (or group of gods). But, as I see it, no man or woman can say, with impunity, that there is no God, or group of gods, at all.
But, naturally, you can never convince an atheist that he/she is really an agnostic. I have, far more often than not, found atheists to be incapable of mature conversation, let alone reason.”

Atheists, by and large, don’t really practice any more of what they preach than garden-variety, lukewarm Christians, yet they insist on proclaiming their own mental and moral superiority through straw man arguments against Christianity. Perhaps it’s time for the atheist crowd to take a pooper-scooper to their own backyards before pointing their fingers at Christianity’s so-called “flaws”.

Thank you and God bless for posting this.

atheist live a shallow and disgusting life, yet just like you perfectly nailed it, they are bluntly hypocrites. they only strive to find happiness by being as ruthless and wicked as they can, then claim they are good people while actual good God fearing people are law abiding citizens.

maybe the atheists are to busy chopping up their own family members to steal their money peacefully I guess?

But posting what you have takes alot of courage and guts, and needs to be said. Those weirdos seem to want a voice, then stop everyone elses voice. then scream about wanting equality and freedom.

their hypocrites.

I hope you don't mind, but I would really like to use parts of your article to spread around.

> their hypocrites.

While you, are not...
Listen to yourself; hysterical, bigoted drivel. For atheists and religious fence-sitters, this type of nonsensical attack offers the strongest-possible argument against religion.
Yet, "compassion and understanding" are the "bywords" of your faith...
If religion is "dying", it's BECAUSE of sentiments like these. How do you think god will react to that, come the big day?
Learn some respect, and you will engender it in others - Otherwise, carry on trashing your very cause.

Dear "Anonymous (Nov. 3rd poster)":

Thank you for your "courageous" anonymous response. It never fails that, no matter how condescending or snarky the atheists are, it's always the Christians that are going to be bashed when they answer a bunch of lies told about Christianity.

What's hysterical or bigoted about my blog entry? I just took each point American Atheists used to try to assert their moral and intellectual authority, and let the air out of each one. You want to complain about how our responses to attacks make religion look bad, but what would our silence say?

On top of that, people like American Atheists are beyond the "there-there" stage. They need to have their intellectual dishonesty and blatant hypocrisy exposed for what it is.

Sorry if that offends your tender sensibilities, but nobdy seems to care much about ours, either.

Anonymous said...

My post stated at the top it was directed at Anonymous, not you.
Your blog post I found interesting. I'm all for you making your case, and I never advocated silence - just a moment of consideration for that poster.

I have no knowledge of the AA you refer to, I wouldn't join a group for atheists for the same reasons I wouldn't join a religion, neither would anyone I know.
But, the points you make to me cut both ways, atheists generally are a "group" (by exclusion) who are from all walks of life, good 'uns and bad 'uns alike. Some are asses and I disagree with their MO strongly, and will tell them so.
But, it's not easy being atheist either.

Signing off as anonymous again, who I am is unimportant, but then using a nick doesn't provide any real-world accountability either! No offense. :-)

My apologies, anonymous. Your wording was somewhat ambiguous. I have been attacked quite viciously for my comments, and some of those attacks were flushed because they were just pottymouthed rants. Thanks for your comments.

THANK YOU FOR WRITING THIS ARTICLE

i hate how some atheist seem to feel "above" theism, immune to criticism, and half are hypocrites just like you said.

i also hate how a jew and a hindu can disagree but yet not bash each other for being "dumb or illogical" but somehow an atheist can bash a theist for being "dumb or illogical....

atheist act as if they are "above" religion and its "negativity"
yet atheism is becoming a "religion" more and more everyday

Mr Truth said...

It's actually becoming a religion to not have religion.

I bet someday there will be a church of no religion where everybody is just silent as that's what they want when it comes to stuff they can't explictly prove.

How an Atheist will try to debunk something as simple as this:

"You can pick on your nose, You can pick on you're friend but you can't pick on your'e friends nose"

Atheist 1: How do YOU know you can't pick on your'e friends nose as you can't prove it to me and I am ready to debunk everything you have to say.

The atheist mistake:

1. No moral grounds:
I am not going to pick on the friends nose because it will hurt his feelings and distrupt God.

2. That Athesit's true motive is NOT to have an intelligent converstation but to be a troll and try to nit-pick and twist everything to suit his/her agenda and label me as the troll for sharing my *not* blind faith.

The Stoogemaniac said...

Not only that, Mr. Truth, but the 7th Court of Appeals has classified Atheism as a "non-theistic religion".

How do you like them apples?

Well, the reason for this was to allow nonbelievers the same rights under the law as believers and churches. It doesn't actually mean that atheism is a religion, which it isn't.

I just came from an atheist board that highlights many of the points you raise and serves as a case study in the very hypocrisy you wrote about. But first, some background.

It is true that some Christians drive people away from the faith. Whether it's doctrine or practice, it is done in violation of clear overarching principles of what being a Christian is all about: freedom from religious ritualism and legalism, reconciliation with God through Jesus alone, and following Jesus in his unambiguous command to "not be served, but serve", and "treat others as you want them to treat you".

[BLUNTNESS WARNING]
One prime exampe of a teaching and practice that is driving many from the faith is hard-core patriarchy, where the man is "prophet, priest, and king" over his wife (though she is an adult and 'co-heir') and children. How benevolently he may rule is irrelevant; it is the fact that he rules, instead of serves (the two are mutually exclusive, and yes, I've been around that debate for years), which is the problem. It makes women perpetual children or half-adults who cannot function independently of someone with the "right" genitalia.

This led to the formation of a group called No Longer Quivering, a reaction to the "quiverfull" movement which the Duggar family has made famous with their assembly-line production of children. ;-) They have a legitimate beef: the Jesus who was supposed to set them free neglected to tell them it was only for males; the God who was supposed to love them neglected to tell them it came with fine print about hollowing out their personalities and making them slaves of a man's fleshly cravings and delicate ego; the apostle Paul who said "there is no male and female… for you are all one in Christ Jesus" turned around and told them there certainly is male and female, and don't you forget it! Etc. etc. etc.
[/BLUNTNESS]

So, silly me, caring about these victims of scripture twisting and corruption, I went there to show that the Bible teaches no such thing. I wanted to explain that if we just examine the scriptures carefully we'll see that in Jesus there really is freedom for the oppressed, that there really is equality in all respects between the various parts of the Body of Christ, whose only Head is Jesus, and that all believers, without respect to the flesh, are to have an attitude of humility and service to all other believers, without hierarchy, rule, ranking, or whatever anyone may call it.

Long story short, they bit the hand that tried to feed them. If I tried to stay on topic they accused me of not "going with the flow of conversation"; if I went with the flow, they accused me of "going off topic"; if I gave my personal opinion (which they asked for) I was ramming it down their throats; if I dared to call them out on their double standard, I was mean-spirited and hateful and used as the poster child for "bad Christians". They clearly didn't want my help, and hated any attempt to burn down their forest full of straw men. I honestly think I could have said "what a lovely day this is" and they'd take offense.

They have every right to be angry, but when they claim to be pursuing honest dialog while demanding this very tilted playing field, they will wait in vain for any reasonable and productive discussion. Oh, there will be plenty of Christians there, talking and getting along, but the hard truths about God and eternity will be forever banned. They don't want dialog, they want revenge.

Atheists are blind and theists are too proud (theists like the poster)I seriously cant imagine being theist. Your only answer to all the holes in christianity is that your faith will save you or faith faith faith. THIS IS EARTH NOT A FAIRY TALE!!! But it doesn't matter because while you theists are reading this you THINK you are laughing at me at my ignorance but me friends you are wrong. Why do you have to rely on a supernatural being for your support and help. FRiends and family are what are important, not an overated book and a non-existent "father". /endrant

The Stoogemaniac said...

Aww, too bad.

I would have loved to discuss issues with you.

I guess you didn't really have a thoughtful rebuttal to the hypocrisy of atheism.

Anonymous said...

You seem to confuse 'atheist' and 'antitheist'. As an atheist I donate to secular organizations. I wouldn't even think to look for an atheist charity. Usually we just go on charity navigator or some equivalent and give to whomever is highly rated.

You seem to imply statistical evidence without actually posting any statistics. Anecdotal evidence is not statistically significant.

"No, I don't know that atheists should be considered as citizens, nor should they be considered patriots. This is one nation under God."
- George H. W. Bush

He said that before getting elected. Replace atheists with Christians, Jews, or even Muslims and imagine the uproar...

The Stoogemaniac said...

No, 'anonymous', I'm not confused. Most atheists ARE anti-theists. Just read the stuff they post online.

There was a study done in 2005 that shows religious believers donate more money and volunteer more time per capita than atheists do, if you're into stats.

The purpose of the post was to show the inherent bigotry of one of the largest pro-atheism organizations in the United States.

You also suggest your own personal bigotry my making a point of donating to "secular" organizations only, which is what American Atheists is preaching for you to do!

Christians donate to religious AND secular charities, like the American Cancer Society.

So, you wouldn't donate to the Salvation Army, even though they are a worldwide provider of welfare services, and they are often working alongside first responders at disaster areas like New Orleans?

Thank you for making my point, anonymous.

Anonymous said...

Who performed that study, the Templeton Foundation? Cite your source. I've given plenty of anonymous gifts and I'm sure those aren't factored in to these studies.

Actually, I donate to Christian charities as well. You were reading something into my post that wasn't there. I was merely saying secular as opposed to atheist. I go by whichever ones are well respected and have little overhead, usually meaning secular... but not always. So no bigotry here and no point made, but nice try.

I hold nothing against the Salvation Army. I do refuse to donate to charities that proselytize extensively much like I'm sure you would refuse to donate to a charity that promoted blasphemy.

The Stoogemaniac said...

Anonymous, your bigotry is showing when you bring up a name like the Templeton Foundation.

I'm going to cite some NON-religious sources for stats on charitable giving.

First is the Campbell Company, which shows that people donate larger amounts per capita for religious motivations:

http://www.campbellcompany.com/pdf/Generational%20Giving%20Study%20Executive%20Summary.pdf

Next is the National Philanthropy Trust:

http://www.nptrust.org/philanthropy/philanthropy_stats.asp

Third, an ABC News article which showed that a Wal-mart in religious Sioux Falls attracts more donors than a Macy's in secular San Francisco:

http://abcnews.go.com/2020/story?id=2682730&page=1

Fourth, an excerpt from Arthur Brooks' "Who Really Cares?"

http://www.arthurbrooks.net/whoreallycares/excerpt.html

And here's an interesting bit of info from good old Canada:

http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20090608/donation_survey_090608/20090608?hub=TopStories

You made a point of donating to secular charities, anonymous, which insinuates you personally try to avoid religious charities.

You claim to have nothing against the Salvation Army, but they're a church, and yes, they proseletyze.

The point in the blog post is supported by you, anonymous. You as an atheist prefer non-religious charities, and the stats show that atheists and liberals give far less than religious conservatives do, despite the liberal battle cry of being the most generous people.

Anonymous said...

The Salvation Army doesn't proselytize extensively, it is not their primary purpose. If I am wrong about that, then I change my opinion about them because if 40% of your effort is conversion of others then how can you be an effective charity?

Do you donate to atheist charities? If not, why the bigotry? As far as the labeling of bigot... judge not lest ye be judged.

Thank you for the links, although the Campbell Company and National Philanthropic Trust links show little evidence to support what you are saying. Sure religious are more likely to give (as per NPT), they have a mandate to do so every Sunday.

Also, at least in my old church, the 'benevolence' portion of our budget was less than 20% of the budget. This means that over 80% went to maintaining the church and paying clergy. That is significant overhead. Also isn't there a difference between volunteering at a children's hospital and volunteering in a church's finance committee?

The Stoogemaniac said...

Anonymous:

You don't know much about the Salvation Army, do you? They're a church. They proseletyze. Their primary focus is to help the needy and bring them into a relationship with Christ. And yes, they ARE an effective charity.

I don't purposely avoid secular charities, anonymous, and you'll find most Christians don't, either.

Campbell and NPT will show you where their data comes from, if you care. A lot of it is taken from government sources.

Any good charity, religious or otherwise, gets at least 80% of the money to the needy.

Most pastors aren't rich, and their staff don't make bank, either. Pastors often work full or part time jobs to support their families. I imagine the average small church would love to have a larger benevolence fund, but that's the way it seems to run.

As far as volunteering goes, those that don't volunteer for anything really have no business criticizing those that do.

Anonymous said...

If a charity spends 40% of its time and resources trying to convert people to Christianity then I, as an atheist, cannot honestly consider that 40% charity and I must add it to overhead. This was my point, nothing deeper.

If 80+% of the Salvation Army's donations go to helping the needy then yes, I am still fine with them.

Of course Christians wouldn't avoid secular charities, they are secular. I said ATHEIST charities. The equivalent of an atheist giving to a religious charity is a religious person giving to an atheist charity... This is why I am asking about your level of comfort with giving to an organization that may spend time and money trying to convince people to abandon their particular dogma. Capische?

Oh really? One can't criticize the Muslim extremist for volunteering to kill himself and a bus full of civilians? Moral relativism is a bunch of nonsense and it gets us nowhere in today's world.

Who said I don't volunteer?

Anonymous said...

I founded the Fundaninathi program in Grahamstown, South Africa, operating in the Joza township providing schools with resources and equipment. C.M Vellem was the first school we were able to impact. It is a charity organisation and run by me: a godless atheist.

I was also the human rights education coordinator for Amnesty International, the treasurer for Give5 which fundraises for student bursaries, a narrator at the Grahamstown library for the blind, a volunteer tutor at township schools etc.

As for major secular organization, do not forget Red Cross. They claim religion neutrality. Their symbol has nothing to do with religion either - it's the Swiss flag in inverted colors. Has to do with the founder.

Atheist charities do not need to announce their atheism to the world because atheism is not a thing, it's a lack of a thing. Atheists do not believe in a god, so if we're going to form organisations proclaiming our lack of belief in a god then we had might as well do the same for our lack of belief in Mickey Moues.

The Stoogemaniac said...

You miss the point. If Atheists are going to single out religious charities because they're religious, they need to stop pretending they're not biased, when in fact, they're bigoted. And the fact is, atheists have been statistically shown to be less generous with their time and money.

The Stoogemaniac said...

Congratulations for your work on behalf of the unfortunate in South Africa. Unfortunately, you're more the exception than the rule.
You fail to grasp, however, that belief in God and the works of Jesus are key motivators for charity. Atheism has nothing to motivate anybody to do anything good, regardless of what American Atheists posts on their intellectually dishonest website.

Anonymous said...

atheism is not a thing, it's a lack of a thing

Atheism by definition is a belief in something: that there is no God. So it is misleading to say that it is the lack of something. While words such as atypical and amoral mean the lack of something, atheism means the assertion that God does not exist. That is, it is the lack of belief in God, not the lack of belief.

Nitpickin' but necessary. ;-)

First of all you say that secular programs help those that are in need of some form of aid. “There are a number of secular programs (mostly run by tax dollars)”. You here are admitting that the funding for these secular programs is not funded by the church but by the tax dollars from a nation’s citizens. You know that the atheist, Muslims, and Hindus are taxed to correct? Meaning that every working citizen contributes to these aid programs regardless of their religious affiliation. With the Vatican and its associates estimated at having 750 billion dollars in net assets I would love to know why they can not personally fun these programs themselves. The goal of pretty much every atheist is to help their fellow man to create a more peaceful and intelligent world. Atheists do not come to this moral position because a book told them so, but because they understand that it is ethically the correct thing to do. The American Humanist Association is just one example of a charity that atheist commonly like to endorse to offer aid to their fellow man.

You later than try to make it a point to clarify that theist have just the amount of same will as an atheist. This is inarguably not true. If a theist were in a position to have to make an ethical based decision most theists would rely on what they were taught from the “holy” scriptures (i.e. the bible). Atheists on the other hand make their decisions solely based on rational thought rather then following rules blindly. Atheist also do not have a problem with implementing some of the bibles teachings such as “Though shalt not kill”, but instead of following this moral law because we are simply told ,we individually come to a rational based decision that killing is ethically wrong.

Once again you make a mis-interpretation of something atheists commonly say in regards to them being morally superior. If I ask a theist why something is right or wrong and he/she does not include god or religion in his description (He comes to this decision on his own) then I would see him as an equal in regard to moral superiority. The fact is however, that these theists are far and few between and the general population of religious people follow their moral codes simply because they are told so. See it is an atheists morals that make him superior it is the way he reaches them.

Some of your claims are too silly to comment on, however, there is documentation that shows you are simply spouting nonsense.

To make the claim there are no atheistic charities is to show you have done no research into the matter.
http://www.squidoo.com/Atheist-Charities

You asked for proof that atheists are more moral or do not steal as much as christians. Well, atheists get divorced less often than christians. Note that atheists, being a moderate proportion of the USA population (about 8-16%) are disproportionately less in the prison populations (0.21%). http://www.religioustolerance.org/chr_dira.htm

Well, to many anonymus atheists here, i'am a Christian. Yet, if you are really like that, you'll not going to be mad at someone.
If i were you,i'll stay down insulted and it's not true
ex : I AM a fat guy, if you call me 'bone for body' i'll not be insulted.

Yet, you posting comment here is proven enough that you admit you all are a Hypocrite(at least the one that comments)

no offense. Can't say i'm good either, i'am for one instance. maybe i'am a Hypocrite right now, if so , please forgive me.

I never said there were no atheist charities. But by and large the biggest private charities are religious.

The reason there are less atheist divorces is because atheists shack up in great proportion than believers.

One reason there are less atheists in prison is because atheists don't take into account how many inmates adopt religion after they are incarcerated.

About the Joesph Stalin Comment, I'm just going to Point out that Hitler was religious, the Spanish inquisition was religion, the crusades were religious, so that was an unfair generalization.

The Stoogemaniac said...

Anonynmous, you need to read things besides bytes from the Internet.

Hitler was anti-religious and ultimately wanted to create an atheistic state.

The Inquisition was political.

The Crusades were territorial.

Stalin wanted religion ERASED from the minds of the people, which is a secret desire of most atheists.

'Nuff said.

Know a fast way to shock an atheist? Just say there are no atheists in bed. What does everyone cry out during sex? hint: it ain't "OH, DARWIN!" LOL

Not to rain on your parade but as long as 'God' is defined (by his believers, the only source we have for a definition) as an 'omnipotent entity who loves us' he's logically impossible given the daily proof that life sucks.

If you love someone, you want them to be happy.
If you're omnipotent, you get what you want, no excuses.

If A, then B.
NOT B.
therefore NOT A.

If an omnipotent entity loves us, then we are always happy.
We are not always happy.
Therefore an omnipotent entity does not love us.

As for atheists often saying silly faith based things, I agree. And I'm an atheist.

I'm also not a robot. But that doesn't mean I can read that captcha. Please get better ones.

The Stoogemaniac said...

Anonymous:

Thanks for trying to be logical, but your reasoning is short-sighted.

Omnipotence doesn't automatically mean God forces everyone to be happy. As Anse,m said, God will allow bad things to happend if there is an ultimate good reason for allowing it to be so.

Hume's philiosophy had the same shortsighted approach.

Atheism is laughable. The fact that the very same people who choose to deny Christ have taken such an strong interest (devoting their lives to this same interest, at times) in completely destroying Christianity, should really be something to consider when it comes to the "proof" that they seek. Satan hates our Lord and Savior, and wishes to deceive the hearts and minds of men into blasphemous and earthly things, after all. Too extravagant, to believe? Hardly, when you consider some of the more abstract scientific theories plaguing our world, today.

Christ spoke of this. He said men would turn to their gods of science and logic, and deny Him. I truly fear for the souls of those who reject Jesus. As a follower of His, I cannot hate the atheist, for just like him, I fall short of the glory of God.

"You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye." Everyone is prone to hypocrisy in a limitless array. Christians are actually more susceptible to it than atheists because they have an Extremely High Standard that is desired to be met while atheists can make up their own 'rules' as they go along (for with man these things are not possible, but with God all things are possible). If you are reading this post and an atheist though, that makes you a hypocrite./The man responsible for today's computer, "The Father of the Computer" was a Christian, same rule applies to physicists where the concept of gravity was derived by Jacob Boehme and Newton, both Christians. The Faraday cage and all relating to farraday" A devout Christian. Weather? Christian Doppler, Doppler Radar, Christian. It's almost impossible to not be a hypocritical "atheist' which is the definition of atheist truly, unless one was deaf. dumb and blind, except Helen Keller figured it out.

Nice Post. But New Atheist tend to love to link to and pick apart your arguments. Simply because of the "we can't allow those filthy Christians to ever be right" mentality. Yes, an atheist can have a blog about how wrong religion is, but the second a Christian does the same to them, call the cops, this is a tragedy.

Plus judging by these comments alone. They seem to have a mighty need to always paint themselves in a sympathetic light. saying such idiotic statements as their "an oppressed minority" You know, Christians were slaughtered and Arrested by Romans in droves. When's the last time there was a widespread lynching of Atheist?

Anonymous said...

Exactly. Atheists mock religious people (especially Christians) all the time. But whenever a religious person mocks atheists (which, let's be honest, is not unjustified), atheists whine and cry that they're being "oppressed." They demand respect yet they never show any respect for anyone who disagrees with them. They're nothing more than a bunch of hypocritical, self-righteous, bigoted idiots.

Anonymous said...

Atheists are such bigoted, immoral, selfish, idiotic, narcissistic, misogynistic, hypocritical garbage. All of them are. Especially liberal atheists. I can't stand them. Call me a bigot, but I am STRONGLY anti-atheist and pro-religion. At least most religious people do good for others. The only thing atheists do is spread hatred, kill people for having different beliefs, and then turn around and play the victim, acting like they did nothing wrong and acting like all those meanie mean-headed religious people provoked them (ooh, someone said, "God bless you"! How DARE they be so insensitive to atheists and their sensitive -yet enormous- egos?! Atheists are soooooooo oppressed! Boo hoo!). Go ahead, tell me I'm being bigoted, but why wouldn't anyone with even just half a brain be anti-atheist? Atheism is disgusting, and atheists are vile, repulsive pigs. And they have the gall to shove their disgusting, idiotic, nonsensical, and immoral beliefs down everyone's throat.

You're very brave for calling out atheists on their bull and telling it like it is on the Internet. Atheists typically send hate messages and death threats to people who simply say "I'm a Christian" or "I believe in God" online. So much for being "excepting" and "respectful", huh? Christians (and religious people in general) NEVER do that. It just goes to show who the better people are (aka NOT atheists).

While I take the time to call out the silly things Atheists post on the internet, let us not forget that Our Lord Jesus loves them, too, regardless of how disgusting or repulsive they may behave. Never forget that one day one of them may see the fallacy of their beliefs, and when they do, we must be there with an answer presented in gentleness and respect.

I am 100% fir fighting atheist bigotry, and this blog is a HUGE breath of fresh air! Atheists are the most arrogant, ignorant, bigoted, hypocritical, selfish, delusional, stupid, self-centered, annoying people I've ever seen, and it's so nice to finally see someone call them out on their BS!

"Concerned with the preservation of freedom"? Atheist hypocrisy at its finest! Atheists only want freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and freedom of expression for themselves! Atheists are so bigoted and arrogant that they can't go more than two sentences without insulting anyone and everyone who dares to have religious beliefs that are different than theirs. (And yes, atheists, your "logic" and "reason" and "facts" are all just beliefs. You can't prove that God doesn't exist, and even though atheism has been proven wrong time and time again, you still choose to live in your little self-centered, self-obsessed, Richard Dorkins-loving fantasy world.) I couldn't even be angry while reading this post; it's hilarious how atheists brag about how great and perfect they think they are, all while tearing theists down just to build up their already enormous egos. The world would be a much better place if atheists would just grow up and learn how to respect others, including the people they disagree with.

It's funny how atheists accuse every Christian of "shoving religion down their children's throats", even though they force their own kids to be atheists, shoving anti-religious propaganda down their throats and completely taking away their freedom. Atheists aren't "independent", they just deny others their independence and ram their subjective atheistic beliefs down everyone's throat.

"Atheists, by definition, wouldn't consider a faith-based or religious solution to anything, even if it turns out to best way of fixing a problem." WRONG!!! You know NOTHING about how we think. "They are no more open-minded than their religious counterparts." You're projecting. F*** you for comparing us to closed-minded-pig-headed braindead morons I.e. Yourself. (And don't deny that's what you said. "As their religious counterparts", that's what you said.)

This is what an atheist posted here on Christmas Day 2015. Need I say more? He (or she?) supports my views with every word that was spewed here.

LOL right?

Atheists are so evil and uptight! They have such a huge collective persecution complex, even though no one is oppressing them, persecuting them or discriminating against them. They demand all of the respect in the world, while being as disrespectful as possible to everyone else. They can't stand ideas, opinions and beliefs that are different than theirs, but if you show any seeming lack of respect for their ideas, opinions or beliefs, they throw a collective tantrum. They want people to take them seriously all the time, but they are so childish, stupid, hypocritical, bigoted and entitled that it's impossible to take them seriously at all!

I truly believe God has a sense of humor and He created atheists to give us sane people something to laugh at. :-D

Yeah, and atheists are also spineless, abusive monsters who brag about how smart, kind, tolerant and awesome they think they are, but then turn around and:
1. Murder Muslims in their own homes execution-style just because they were Muslims
2. Shoot up public schools and murder every student who believes in God
3. Sue Christians for putting a cross by the side of the road to honor their child who died in a car crash
4. Get mad at a twisted piece of metal that looks like a cross and threaten the city to remove it (even though it was deliberately left in place to honor the people who lost their lives on 9/11)
5. Try to ban the Bible because it hurts their pwecious wittle afiest fee-fees
6. Insult people in public for praying silently
7. Sue people for having a Nativity scene on display at Christmas time
8. Get butthurt over a Christian singer singing about her beliefs
9. Harass and threaten people who wear cross necklaces
10. Burn down churches
11. Barge into churches and shoot the innocent people inside
12. Support pedophilia and rape
13. Treat women, gays, bisexuals, trans-sexuals and people of color like inhuman outsiders and objectify them
14. Harass every Christian they come across online
15. Blame all Christians and Muslims based on the actions of less than 1% of all Christians and Muslims, but get mad when you blame all atheists for the actions of just a few atheists (hypocrisy much?)
16. Wish for the genocide of everyone who isn't an atheist
17. Take horrible tragedies and make them all about themselves by saying disgusting things like "Well, if God was real, this wouldn't have happened" or "You see? Religion causes all of the world's problems! That's why I'm an atheist" (even though less than 10% of all the wars waged throughout human history were religious in nature. Read a book, atheists!)
18. Abuse and disown their own children for not being atheists
19. Tell people to kill themselves online
20. Celebrate whenever a Christian/Republican/feminist dies
21. Attempt to ruin the happiness of anyone who disagrees with them
22. Torment the families of people who have committed suicide due to atheist bullying and harassment
23. Explode into a fiery rage whenever someone mentions God
24. Brutally beat, imprison and even murder people for being Christians (which is happening in China and North Korea. That's why atheists shouldn't be allowed to rise to power)
25. Emotionally abuse Christians in an attempt to bully them into being atheists
26. Make horrible, racist, sexist, bigoted, anti-Semitic, Islamophobic, Christophobic, homophobic, transphobic jokes and slurs and then yell at people to "lighten up" when they (rightfully) get offended
27. Agree with Hitler
28. Abuse animals or enjoy watching animals suffer/get abused
29. Make up lies and false statistics about Christianity, Islam, Judaism, etc.
30. Physically and emotionally abuse their non-atheist spouses
31. Tell non-atheists, Republicans, feminists, etc. who have experienced trauma/abuse that they "deserved it"
32. Try to make free speech, freedom of religion and freedom of expression that they disagree with illegal
33. Demand respect while treating everyone else like garbage
34. Make jokes about "murdering" babies just to annoy pro-life people (I'm pro-choice and I find that absolutely immoral and disgusting)
35. Deny/try to justify their cruel, bigoted, abusive behavior...
Et cetera, et cetera...

Oh yeah, atheists are such kind, loving, tolerant people and we should all aspire to be like them... NOT!!!!!!!!!

"POSITIVE!"

HA! That's a laugh! Atheists are the most negative, pessimistic, nihilistic people who have ever lived.

"ECLECTIC!"

No, quite the opposite. Atheists only read books from atheist fundies. And when they actually read the Bible, the deliberately take it out of context, misinterpret every word, and cherry pick the verses that they think sound "bad" while ignoring the wonderful teachings of Jesus.

"INNER-DIRECTED!"

To do what? All atheists ever do is try to take away the freedom and free will of anyone who dares to think differently than they do. Meanwhile, Christians use their free will to help those in need.

"INDEPENDENT!"

If that were true, atheists would actually think for themselves instead blindly following their "precious" atheist fundie cult leaders. The vast majority of American Christians don't even go to church; instead, they chose to worship God without being told how to do it and how to think.

"HAPPY!"

Ok, THAT one cracked me up! I spit my coffee out when I read that! Atheists are the most pathetically miserable losers on the planet! All they ever do is whine and cry and moan about how "oppressed" and "misunderstood" they are. The only time they're happy is when they make Christians (and everyone else who is too smart to believe in their stupid worldview) as miserable as possible. They take pleasure from hurting others, and they're uncomfortable and depressed when people they hate/disagree with are happy and content.

"CONCERNED WITH THE PRESERVATION OF FREEDOM!"

I really need to not drink while reading the stupid things that atheists say. That one literally made me choke! Atheists strive ceaselessly to take away the freedom of anyone who identifies as a theist, especially if they identify as a Christian! Atheists only care about preserving their right to be stupid, wrong, and bigoted. Their main goal is to silence anyone who questions them or who simply disagrees with them.

American Atheists is an intolerant hate group, and like all atheists, they are disgustingly hateful, dishonest, bigoted, hypocritical, abusive, and cruel.

Atheism promotes hatred and spite towards Christians and theists in general. It does nothing good and only holds society back and harms innocent people. If it were up to me, I would ban atheism. The world would be a better place without it and its disgusting adherents.

Sorry if I get you atheist fundies all ruffled up, but I'm just telling the truth.

So, Christians are "anti-science", yet atheists believe in random cosmic sky farts, talking monkeys, and magical wishing stars that fall into the ocean and turn into slugs that evolve into fish that evolve into frogs that evolve into apes that evolve into the Flintstones.
