Atheist Intolerance 101

An Atheist on the Internet griped:

"In this country, at this time, anyone running for public office must profess to believe in magic and invisible beings, or they have no chance of being elected. Once in office they must keep the believers that elected them happy, (or they won't have a job for long), so they make decisions based on that, rather than what is fairest for all concerned."

So is this guy suggesting religious believers holding elected office are all fakes? Or can't he fathom that a believer in public office would have his decisions affected by the faith that shapes his personal morals?

"That is the main complaint I have, but little things like them postponing the Rose Parade, or not being able to hard alcohol on Sunday (in Oregon), making ME say so help me god, in court, having your motto on our money, (if it said in Pixies we trust, you would understand)"

Gee, pal, sorry if traditions like postponing the Rose Parade get you in such a lather. And you can drink on Sundays at home in dry states, you just can't buy on Sunday. And as far as the money goes, most transactions are handled with debit cards, so stop fretting about that legal tender. By the way, The "pixies" argument is hackneyed and deserving of being tossed on the same garbage heap as the "Fire Breathing Dragon in My Garage" argument.

"But the worst thing that religious beliefs do is divide people. Religion divides families, communities even counties."

You know what else divides people? Intolerance and disrespect for beliefs that are different than yours.

"Religion is a hate machine, it cause groups of people to hate or at least mistrust other groups of people who have different beliefs."

Hatefully written, Mr. Finger-Pointer.

"Do I need to keep going or do you get the picture?"

 Nope. I've seen plenty. Thanks!

Atheists are so ridiculous. You can show them their hate speech and illogicality but they will deny up and down that they've done anything wrong.

I'm pretty sure they wouldn't say the same thing about Wicca, Buddhism or Jainism (not saying they are wrong, I actually have a deep respect for the last two and think they are very, very good religions), it's just the wicked christianity with it's teaching about loving your enemies and honoring your parents.
Seriously, this kind of people is absurd.

First sentence and already a lie? Not ALL but many fake their belief. The atheist doesn't state that ALL fake their belief.
You're clearly clever disclosing yourself as a liar. Not that your readers will care, but they don't care about logical thinking anyway.

"The "pixies" argument is hackneyed"
OK, so the believers simply ignore all arguments against their belief, and after some time, these arguments are "hackneyed". Very logical.

"and deserving of being tossed on the same garbage heap as the "Fire Breathing Dragon in My Garage" argument."
Yeah, after that mass of compelling arguments that you didn't name and that also don't exist, the argument is refuted - no, I'm just joking.

"You know what else divides people? Intolerance and disrespect for beliefs that are different than yours."
So if I say I'm against Nazis you'd also call me intolerant? Obvious nonsense is obvious.
Intolerance against intolerance and lies is the only right approach. Since all religions are intolerant against other religions and inherently a lie (an infinite god is infinte improbable - nevertheless religions say that god exists) one can only encounter religion with intolerance.

"Hatefully written, Mr. Finger-Pointer."
Blah blah, calling a true sentence hate-speech doesn't make that sentence a hate-speech. No matter how much you want this to be the case.
Also, religion teaches to PRACTISE hate, while this atheist only writes. A small but important fact which - of course - you ignored in your manipulative way.

"Nope. I've seen plenty. Thanks!"
I can only repeat that sentence. Already your first sentence in that article shows how dishonest you are.

@Moi
"You can show them their hate speech and illogicality"
Atheists are not illogical nor are their statements hate speech, no matter how often believers repeat that crap.

"but they will deny up and down that they've done anything wrong."
One doesn't have to deny a lie.

@Alejandro Rodríguez
"I'm pretty sure they wouldn't say the same thing about Wicca, Buddhism or Jainism"
I'm pretty they will. Also: If you have no idea about anything, why are you maundering at all?

"it's just the wicked christianity with it's teaching about loving your enemies and honoring your parents."
History teaches us that this isn't true. Also christianity has a lot more silly teachings than loving your enemies (no sex out of marriage, no homosexuality, being afraid of hell, babbling useless prayers, being against nonbelievers etc.). And these other teachings are generally much more important to believers.
Plus you can love your enemies an honor your parents without believing in a god that is infinite improbable.
By the way: Where are you loving your enemies - the atheists? You don't? That's hypocritical.

"Seriously, this kind of people is absurd."
Seriously, lying about atheist and making up stuff is not absurd but to be expected from persons like you.

A question is not a lie. That's Logic 101. A statement can only be proven true or false.

The "compelling arguments" you lean on have been logically refuted. Try reading more.

Please don't delude yourself into thinking you occupy some moral pedestal based on your wrong headed blanket statement about religion.

But hey, thanks for reading my blog!

Anonymous wrote this. First, the quote from Alejandro:

"it's just the wicked christianity with it's teaching about loving your enemies and honoring your parents."

Now, from Anonymous:

"History teaches us that this isn't true. Also Christianity has a lot more silly teachings than loving your enemies (no sex out of marriage, no homosexuality, being afraid of hell, babbling useless prayers, being against nonbelievers etc.). And these other teachings are generally much more important to believers.

Another typical ignorant Atheist rant. I will address those:

1. In the NT, the word that people assume that means premarital sex is fornication. I believe that this word shouldn't be in the Bible, just like the word Easter(Passover should be there instead).

Fornication comes from the word Fornix. Those were L-Shaped walls that the cultic temple prostitutes stood behind in places like Corinth. When you had sex with them, it was a form of idolatry and adultery against God. That has nothing to do with premarital sex between an unmarried man and woman.

There are books that address this, like Dirt, Greed, and Sex and The Poisoning of Eros. The first book is written by a Rev. Countryman, and the second one is written by Ray Lawrence, a clergyman.

2. Yes, some Christians be against non-believers, but that isn't a true Christian attitude. Many Atheists seem to hate Jesus and Christianity for actions of misguided people. That is wrong. Jesus taught love, not judgment.

3. Prayer isn't babble(or at least it shouldn't be). It should be an open and honest talk with God. He knows what you are thinking. Prayer should be like talking with your friends.

4. As for Homosexuality, the Bible isn't 100% clear on this in my opinion. There is a reference in Leviticus, but the Apostles decided in 64 A.D. that non-Jews don't have to follow the holiness code and become a Jew to be saved. Also, in the NT, there are a few verses about it, but those aren't 100% clear. And, some talk about the words Malakois and Arsenokaitai in Corinthians to mean Homos, but I think that is talking about pederasty.

The Stoogemaniac said...

Very interesting, Anonymous.

I'll check those references you mention. I think the words you cite from Corinthians may refer to male prostitutes, which can include acts of pederasty, but then again, I think any boys that were involved weren't necessarily acting out of free will. That may be more directed to the customers of these services.

Stoogie,

I was the one who put those references about sex on here, not Anonymous. I was just quoting him.

And, speaking of Pederasty, here is a source that deals with what you were talking about:

Yeah, I see that. That website is torturing scripture to support a liberal viewpoint.
